چکیده

Diarrheagenic Escherichia coli (DEC) are associated with frequent incidences of waterborne infections and pose health risk to individuals who contact water for domestic or recreational uses. Detection DEC pathotypes in drinking can be used as an indicator fecal contamination. This study aimed investigate the occurrence their capacity form biofilms samples collected from different sources. In this study, PCR analysis was determine four clinically significant virulence genes diarrheagenic E. coli, eaeA (Enteropathogenic coli), stx1, stx2 (Enterohemorrhagic coli) sth (Enterotoxigenic (n = 35) by using specific primers conditions. amplicons were visualized agarose gel electrophoresis. A total 12/35 (34%) detected positive at least one 11/12 (91%) isolates harbored gene while 1/12 (8%) none. The most (75%), stx1 (66%). Biofilm assay confirmed that ETEC cause damage enteric walls attaching effacing persist diarrheal indicated sources is contaminated potential it a source diseases. amplification (EPEC, EHEC ETEC) demonstrates potentially virulent distributed may concern. There is, therefore, urgent need monitor water.

Biochemical Detection of N-Acyl Homoserine Lactone from Biofilm-Forming Uropathogenic Escherichia coli Isolated from Urinary Tract Infection Samples

Background: N-Acyl homoserine lactone (AHL) is found to be the main component of quorum sensing (QS) in Gram-negative bacteria and plays an important role in biofilm formation. Little information is available regarding the role of AHL in biofilm formation in Escherichia coli (E. coli). The purpose of this investigation was to biochemically detect and characterize AHL activity in biofilm-forming...

Occurrence of virulence genes associated with Diarrheagenic pathotypes in Escherichia coli isolates from surface water.

Escherichia coli isolates (n = 300) collected from six sites in subtropical Brisbane, Australia, prior to and after storm events were tested for the presence of 11 virulence genes (VGs) specific to diarrheagenic pathotypes. The presence of eaeA, stx(1), stx(2), and ehxA genes specific for the enterohemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC) pathotype was detected in 56%, 6%, 10%, and 13% of isolates, respectiv...

Distribution of virulence associated genes in isolated Escherichia coli from avian colibacillosis

BACKGROUND: Colibacillosis is one of the most prevalentdiseases in the world that causes multimillion-dollar annuallosses. OBJECTIVES: In order to evaluate molecular epidemiologyof some virulence associated factors in Escherichia coli, isolated from poultry, the presence of iut A, iss, hly F, omp T, iroN, afa, sfa (S)and pap G (II) were investigated by multiplex PCRassay. METHODS: Two hundred th...

Antibiotic Susceptibility of Shiga Toxin Producing E. coli O157:H7 Isolated from Different Water Sources

Nowadays the extensive use of antibiotics for the treatment of humans and warm blooded animals has influenced the frequency and spread of antibiotic resistant E. coli O157:H7 in different aqueous sources. Thus, the main aim of this study was to evaluate the antibiotic susceptibilities of E. coli O157:H7 isolated from different water sources and establish a correlation between the presence of vi...

Molecular Epidemiology of ESBL Genes and Multi-Drug Resistance in Diarrheagenic Escherichia coli strains Isolated from Adults in Iran

Resistance to oxyimino cephalosporins antibiotics in Enterobacteriaceae is primarily done by the extended spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs). Clear identification of risk factors for ESBL-producing infections is necessary. Therefore, efficient strategies can be developed to decrease outbreak of these infections. The aim of this study was to determine the antibacterial susceptibility and ESBLs patter...
